Vitalina Varela (12A)

A woman looking scared

The latest film from Pedro Costa, which follows a Cape Verdean woman left behind when her husband leaves to find work in Portugal.

Years later, the titular Vitalina finally makes the journey to Lisbon herself but arrives three days after her husband's funeral.

Alone and isolated in her late husband's home, Vitalina is determined to persevere and confront the ghosts of the past as she navigates her way through Lisbon, following the scant physical traces that he has left behind.
