The Exploits of Moominpappa (U*) + pre film workshop

Family Film Club

Moominpapa and a friend walk through a forest, holding golden eggs.

Be the first in the UK to see this charming new Moomin adaptation complete with beautiful stop motion animation.

We’re delighted to be able to bring you one of the first UK screenings of this gentle story from Tove Jannson’s Moomin series. Moominpappa is the star of this story as he regales the audience with tales of his adventurous youth – escaping an orphanage, meeting with an inventor, finding a ghost and sailing a boat out on the ocean. Directed by Ira Carpelan, a veteran of several Moomins films, this is a fantastic close to our month of female filmmaker stories for International Women’s Day.

As part of Family Film Club’s celebration of International Women’s Day this month, we’re delighted that the director Ira Carpelan has recorded us an exclusive introduction for the screening. And we’re also super excited to welcome the film’s composer, Andrea Eklund, to the screening in person!

And don’t forget to come along for our workshop at 10am!!

Age recommendation 4+

Adults can only come if they’re bringing a child, and children can only come along if accompanied by an adult. If you’re over 18, we’re afraid being a ‘big kid’ doesn’t count.
