S.M.I.L.E-ing Boys Experience Live Q&A

Kay is a black male, wearing a baby blue hat and yellow suit. He is standing in front of the S.M.I.L.E-ing Boys Experience installation

Join us for a live Q&A about the S.M.I.L.E-ing Boys Experience currently installed on Level G

Over the Summer the photographic exhibition The S.M.I.L.E-ing Boys Experience took over Level G. In this Q&A you will hear directly from Kay Rufai, the artist behind the exhibition and project, and how the installation aims to address the specific mental health needs of black boys, whilst challenging the negative stereotypes often associated with this demographic in mainstream media and wider society.

Kay will explore the 8 week course the young males go through before their portraits are taken, and the ongoing effects of project on their lives.

Hosted by photographer Ryan Prince
