St Matthew Passion

Britten Sinfonia

Nicholas Mulroy portrait jazzy shirt

One of Bach’s greatest works: urgent, committed and impassioned, with a stellar cast led by Nicholas Mulroy.

Bach’s St Matthew Passion is one of the towering masterpieces of Western art. Moments of deep introspection combine with jubilant choruses and exquisite arias to create a work that is both uplifting and profoundly moving.

This very special Good Friday performance features a stellar cast led by Nicholas Mulroy, alongside the incomparable Roderick Williams as Christus. Jacqueline Shave directs Britten Sinfonia and the orchestra’s acclaimed professional vocal ensemble, Britten Sinfonia Voices, from the violin.

This concert will end at approximately 9.05pm, including a 20 minute interval.

‘The most sought-after evangelist of his generation. It's a big call, but to hear him sing there is no doubt. He is a cogent storyteller, with a radiant sound that gets more ravishing as it gets higher‘
