Profile
A live artist, Ursula Martinez has worked with several experimental theatre companies including Insomniac Productions, The Glee Club, Forced Entertainment and Duckie with whom she is an associate artist – last appearing here at the Barbican with the Olivier Award winning C’est Barbican.
Martinez began to make a name for herself as a solo artist on the queer cabaret circuit, later combining her experimental theatre background with her cabaret experience together with collaborator Mark Whitelaw. She continues to produce live solo and collaborative performance pieces for different contexts and spaces. Mark Whitelaw is a writer, director, and dramaturg. Founder of The Glee Club Performance Company, Mark has collaborated with numerous international theatre companies, dance companies and solo artists, including Mem Morrison, The People Show, Insomniac Productions, H2 Dance and Duckie.
