Following a large-scale Russian production in autumn and a new opera in Middle English in spring, Guildhall opera singers continue to showcase their versatility with the lesser-known first version of Handelís masterpiece, performed in the intimate surroundings of the Milton Court Theatre.
Composed predominantly for Handelís favourite female singers (before he revised it to the version more commonly performed today), the piece presents a wonderful vocal and theatrical challenge.
Listen to our podcast with cast members Margo Arsane and Anna Sideris as we discuss everything from the differences between this first version of Radamisto and the more well known later version and the benefits of having a double cast, to singing in Italian after having experienced Russian and Middle English this year and the freedom of singing a baroque opera.
