Join Cheek by Jowl’s Assistant Director Marcus Roche for an intensive weekend workshop in response to The Winter’s Tale at the Barbican.
 
Cheek by Jowl is the home theatre company of Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod. Since it was founded in 1981 the company has been invited to perform all over the world and now produces work in three languages; English, French and Russian. Marcus Roche has worked with Cheek by Jowl for over a year, and has worked across Europe and in Russia.
 
Gain insight into Cheek by Jowl’s approach to acting, and be introduced to some of the modes of rehearsal the company uses. As an international company performing classic works, this workshop with focus on the company’s work with Shakespeare’s plays, in particular The Winter’s Tale.
 
As part of the Lab, you will receive a ticket to the performance of The Winter’s Tale on the evening of Saturday 8 April at the Barbican.

This Lab is suitable for students, emerging or mid-career actors, directors and theatre-makers, ages 18+. International participants are encouraged to book. Some preparation in advance will be required.

Bursary places are available for this Lab.
