Russia, 1936: hero of the revolution, Colonel Kotov is spending an idyllic summer in his dacha with his family.  But when cousin Dimitri arrives unexpectedly from Moscow after a 13-year absence, Kotov is uneasy: this is the time of Stalin’s great purges, not the time for a social call…
