Heavyweight acting talent Toni Servillo, star of the Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA-winning film The Great Beauty, and winner of the Best Actor prize at the 2013 European Film Awards, leads a superb 13-strong ensemble in an Italian play that’s delighted audiences in packed theatres across Europe.
Eduardo De Filippo’s insightful black comedy highlighted the corruption of human relationships in the aftermath of the Second World War. Confusing a dream with reality, Alberto accuses the family next door of murder. His mistake triggers a chaotic chain of events. Husband turns against wife, sister against brother, as suspicion and betrayal beset an impoverished Neapolitan neighbourhood.
Servillo directs and plays Alberto, demonstrating true star quality and comic precision, alongside his real-life brother Peppe Servillo, a famous singer and performer in his own right.
