It begins with a guitar in the darkness. Next a game of hide-and-seek is played with a red dress. Steam, then water, materialises in a series of stage pictures impossible to forget.

Aurélien Bory has imagined a beautifully stark setting for this account of one woman’s immersion into the world of flamenco. Traditional elements of live vocals and guitar accompany dancer Stéphanie Fuster onstage but the familiar heat and passion of her flamenco are refined to their essence. The result is a powerful portrait of an artist’s uncompromising journey.

Boundary-breaking French director Bory thrilled audiences here with Les Sept Planches de la Ruse featuring Chinese acrobats.

'Original and delicate, it has the piquancy of an exotic dish; one savours every morsel' Le Monde (France)

'Should you go? You bet! Director Aurélien Bory is full of ideas' Le Figaro (France)
