Red and Orange Members with a ticket to Complicite's The Master and Margarita are invited to take part in our first ever Members’ Discussion Group.

Bulgakov’s The Master and Margarita is a classic of 20th century literature and has a cult following. In this event Dr Julie Curtis of Oxford University will give Barbican Members an insight into the background and key themes of this much-loved novel, after which you will be encouraged to split into smaller groups and share your thoughts in a relaxed and informal book-club style discussion.

Tickets are free but limited so book now, RSVP with your name, Membership number and number of tickets required to barbicanmembership@barbican.org.uk

Dr Curtis' work focuses in particular on 20th-century Russian prose and drama, especially Mikhail Bulgakov. Her publications include 'Manuscripts Don't Burn: Mikhail Bulgakov, a Life in Letters and Diaries' (London: Bloomsbury, 1991 and 2012) and 'Bulgakov's Last Decade: The Writer as Hero' (Cambridge and New York: Cambridge University Press, 1987 and 2011). Her new biography of Evgeny Zamiatin will be published by Harvard University Press in 2013.
