A large group of dead people sit in darkness, conversing to pass the time, or rather, eternity… After thousands of years go by they rise up and go on the rampage, determined to seek out God and demand an answer.
Based on Nobel Prize-winning author Pär Lagerkvist’s novel, The Eternal Smile is a witty, wild and philosophical performance about the dead and their complex relationship with the living.
Verk, Norway’s leading experimental theatre ensemble, premieres The Eternal Smile in the UK having established a reputation nationally for epic and vaudevillian productions with a satirical and political edge.
