'When hardship is at its greatest, words end and dance begins. Because at the heart of all longing and desire, there has always been silence. Happiness can only be sensed by those who can listen to others and to their own inner selves.'*

Wiesenland was created in 2000 following Tanztheater Wuppertal Company spending 17 days in Hungary. Wiesenland takes inspiration from Hungary’s folklore, churches, museums, the suburbs of Budapest and the horizons of Transylvania.

Premiere 5 May 2000.

A piece by Pina Bausch in co-production with Goethe-Institut Budapest and Théâtre de la Ville, Paris.
