From the bustle of the music halls to the riot of the punks - tonight is a celebration of London's iconic songs from some of the country's most extraordinary talents.
Co-curated by songwriter Chris Difford of Squeeze, this show brings together singers and songsmiths of the old school and new, in a celebration of songs about the city.
The stellar cast of musical guests on tonights line-up includes some of the giants of British pop whose work seems to spring from London’s very streets – Suggs and Chas Smash of Madness, and Jools Holland, Difford and Tilbrook’s old Squeeze bandmate – while the others represent a thrilling range of sounds and styles, all drawing musical sustenance from the millions of stories in the Capital.
Also just added to the bill: Phil Daniels, famous for portraying Jimmy Cooper in the 1979 Mod classic Quadrophenia, has also acted in East Enders (as Kevin Wicks). He was the voice of Blur’s Parklife and has also voiced a character in the Aardman Animations film Chicken Run and acted with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
