Baritone Thomas Quasthoff brings his five-concert series Die Stimme – The Voice – to a close with one of the great craftsman of song, Robert Schumann.
Tonight's programme is vocal chamber music-making at its most sublime. The collections of lieder we will hear draw together four voices in a mixture of beautiful solos and quartets, and the performers all rank among the most sensitive and communicative of today's lieder interpretors – Ian Bostridge, Angelika Kirchschlager, Dorothea Röschmann and, of course, Quasthoff himself.
The programme also offers a rare opportunity to see two of today's most acclaimed accompanists on the same stage at the same time – indeed performing together – Julius Drake and Helmut Deutsch.
