A performance by one of Russia's greatest orchestras, conducted by its music director Yuri Temirkanov.

Young Siberian pianist Denis Matsuev performs Rachmaniov's ever-popular Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini.

Yuri Temirkanov has been Music Director and Principal Conductor of the St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra since 1988 and, with this orchestra, he regularly undertakes major international tours and recordings. Their performances in the concert hall and on record have created a legendary reputation throughout the world, leading The Guardian to write that the St Petersburg Philharmonic is 'probably the world's greatest orchestra'.
