Next Generation of Jazz Showcase

1 March 2018 / 19:00
Milton Court Concert Hall
One of the UK's finest young Jazz ensembles and one giving an opportunity to young London musicians come together in a showcase of what could be the future of Jazz.

Enjoy two sets one each from the Guildhall Big Band and the Young Jazz Big Band with music from the era of Duke Ellington and Count Basie. After all, these sultans of Swing are the people whose music Wynton Marsalis believes is the best to learn from, and tonight both groups will be directed by and learning from either members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra or the Guildhall School.

The Young Jazz Big Band is a Barbican Guildhall Creative Learning project which allows 14 to 18 year olds in London to work together over two academic terms as a band alongside professional musicians, like those from the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.
