Tamás Pálfalvi (trumpet)

ECHO Rising Stars

A black & white photograph of Tamas Palfalvi holding a trumpet

Trumpeter Tamás Pálfalvi is already a name to be reckoned with in his native Hungary, and in this entertainingly eclectic ECHO recital you’ll hear why.

The trumpet tends to attract players of larger-than-life charisma, and Pálfalvi is no exception. His programme is an ear-tickling mixture of lyrical melodies and tongue-twisting fireworks – from the poetry of Enescu’s Légende to folk-inspired pieces by Bartók, played with unmistakably authentic flair.

So it’s something of a celebration: after all, it’s not every player who can get around Sarasate’s Zigeunerweisen and breathe life into a stunning new showpiece by the contemporary Hungarian master Peter Eötvös too. But then, it’s the mission of the ECHO Rising Stars scheme to give Europe’s most brilliant young musicians an international platform. This should be an arresting London debut.
