Jeremy Denk in Recital

Milton Court Artist-in-Residence

A black and white headshot of Jeremy Denk

A typically imaginative and thought-provoking solo recital from piano maverick (and Milton Court Artist-in-Residence) Jeremy Denk.

Think Denk, and you think different – even when he’s performing composers as familiar as Prokofiev, Beethoven and Schumann. As ever with Jeremy Denk, though, there’s more going on here than meets the ear: keep an open mind and expect the unexpected.

Because Prokofiev’s Visions Fugitives aren’t just provocative piano miniatures: they’re tiny poems, forged in the fires of Revolution. Schumann’s great Fantasy might just be a sonata in disguise. And what will Franz Liszt have to say when he transforms Beethoven’s only song-cycle into an extended keyboard work like no other? Jeremy Denk won’t necessarily offer obvious answers – but he has a way of asking fascinating questions.
