Gustavo Dudamel conducts an orchestra of 70 young people from East London and Los Angeles in an open rehearsal of Copland's Appalachian Spring.
Dudamel is one of the most in-demand conductors in the world, a long-time advocate of music education and himself a graduate of the visionary ‘El Sistema’ orchestras. Under his baton will be an orchestra made up of young musicians aged 8 - 25, at various stages in their instrumental learning. Not only is this an opportunity for young people of varying abilities, backgrounds and places in the world to make music together, but also to exchange ideas and learn from each other. And this is your opportunity to see the culmination of this work and to watch one of today's finest conductors in his element, as an inspirational teacher and musician.
You can see what happened last time Gustavo Dudamel was here in 2013, below.
The orchestra will be brought together by Barbican Guildhall Creative Learning, the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles (YOLA) and the East London Cultural Education Partnership (ELCEP).
