Two striking young musical voices present a recital of romantic piano music and song – plus a world premiere by Nico Muhly.
The Barbican presents two remarkable young musicians in an imaginative, romantically-coloured programme for voice and piano. Schubert begins and closes an evening that includes Janáček’s magical On an Overgrown Path and a new song commission from Nico Muhly.
It’s part of the ECHO Rising Stars project, but the young Luxembourg-born pianist Cathy Krier and baritone Benjamin Appl, a Guildhall graduate, have already won considerable critical acclaim in their own right. With each of them presenting a major new work alongside works by Schubert, Schumann and Janáček, this should be a rewarding introduction to these very distinctive artists.
