The LA Phil’s Green Umbrella concert series has created a legion of fans for contemporary classical music in Los Angeles. Now it comes to London as Gustavo Dudamel conducts a major new work from the pen of Unsuk Chin, one of the most fascinating and evocative composers alive. Her music is sensuous, enchanting and constantly surprising – combining an extraordinary facility for orchestral colour with a firm capacity for orchestral organization. Gustavo Dudamel conducts his own orchestra in the European premiere of a major new work from this truly international talent.
The concert will finish at approximately 9.15pm

Watch John Adams and director Mark Kidel in Cinema 2 introduce the screening of Road Movie, A Portrait of John Adams. Complementing the performance of John Adams’s The Gospel According to the Other Mary
in the Hall, we present the UK premiere of Mark Kidel’s visually rich
portrait of the composer, exploring the influences that have shaped
Adams’s unique music, including minimalism, jazz, Indian raga and the
European classical tradition.
