Alongside it is the latest concerto from Sibelius's compatriot Kalevi Aho, and Shostakovich's brilliant and witty ballet suite The Bolt, which mingles parodies of 1920s popular music with evocations of the Machine Age. From the complete Sibelius Symphonies, to Dvorak’s neglected masterpiece The Jacobin and thrilling premieres by today’s most exciting composers, there is something for everyone in the BBC Symphony Orchestra’s 2011-12 season.
