In this enigmatic and quietly moving film a trio of terminally-ill patients go backstage at the La Monnaie Opera House in Brussels and there interact and perform with actors, musicians and dancers. Together they attempt to creatively express the fears and questions arising from their situation.
Among the choreographers and performers featured are Montreal-based Benoit Lachambre, artist Simone Aughterlony, and American choreographer Meg Stuart, with her Brussels-based troupe Damaged Goods.
An unusual, almost unclassifiable, blend of documentary and staged encounters and performances, the film discloses its context and thematics gradually and obliquely – we are never told but infer from references in the conversations, songs and impromptu exercises that the protagonists’ remaining time is short.
