A deft and bloody blend of samurai, ninja, yakuza and manga motifs, this is a revenge tale with a twist: the avenger is a woman.

Born in a dark hellhole of a prison, young Yuki (Meiko Kaji) dedicates her life to martial arts training to become Lady Snowblood. At the age of 20, her sword carefully concealed in her parasol, she embarks on a single-minded quest to avenge the four villains who butchered her family.

Played by the beautiful Meiko Kaji, Japanís premier action queen of the era, the film's kimono-clad heroine is widely known to be the model for O-Ren Ishii, Lucy Liuís character in Quentin Tarantinoís Kill Bill (2003).
