Visit the Wonder: Art and Science on the Brain

A landmark in documentary filmmaking, this extraordinary powerful film provides a disturbing look at the treatment the state gives the criminally insane. Filmed in the Bridgewater State Hospital in Massachusetts, it quietly observes a series of activities and procedures involving inmates, guards, social workers and psychiatrists. Though made with full cooperation of the authorities, it was banned in the US and internationally for over 25 years.
