Find out more about Dancing around Duchamp
Hans Richter drew on his circle of friends, among them fellow Dadaist Jean Arp, for a second portmanteau film, 8X8, a tribute to the game he (and Duchamp) loved. The title refers to the 8 x 8 arrangement of squares on a chessboard and the film’s equivalent segmentation into a Chess Sonata in 8 Movements.
Screening with Dadascope, in which Duchamp plays chess with Larry Evans, chess expert, both under water.
