Two young lovers wander the streets of Dakar hatching wild schemes to raise money for their escape to Paris.

Non-linear, fast-paced, mixing primitive and modern imagery – Touki Bouki broke with the storytelling style of older African directors and imagined an electrifying new cinematic language to match a nation forging its own identity.
