In 1911, American cartoonist and animator Winsor McCay prefaced his short film Little Nemo with the invitation to ‘Watch Me Move’, introducing a cast of colourful characters in a playful promenade. A century later, we are using these same words to invite you to our celebration of animation.
Tracing the history of animation over the past 150 years, Watch Me Move: The Animation Show brings together for the first time the films of contemporary artists alongside popular favourites in an exhibition that will keep you and your family entertained for hours.
Come and watch the films of Walt Disney, Pixar, Studio Ghibli and Hanna-Barbera, as well as Lotte Reiniger, Ray Harryhausen, Jan Švankmajer and the Brothers Quay. Get behind the scenes of much-loved films such as Pinnochio and Jurassic Park. See storyboards drawings and the puppets that brought your favourite characters to life. Discover the cult figures of animation, those filmmakers who broke the boundaries of the field.
Introduce your children to the great classics, from the first Mickey Mouse cartoons to Felix the Cat and remember all children under 12 can get in for free!
