Beguiling west-country artist and musician Matthew Robins performs episodes from his series of hand-crafted lounge folklore, as well as new material created especially for the Barbican this Christmas.
Matthew tells the heart-rending story of Flyboy, half-human, half-fly, trying to live a normal life in a small town, despite visits from a mournful robot, aliens from other planets, a haunted snowman, and his neighbour Tony the local bully.
A collection of songs about the sea, the devil, wicker cats and knitted dinosaurs, Matthew's collection of romantic science-fiction shadow-operas for adults and brave children are brought to life by his paper cut-outs and home-made cardboard animations whilst he performs live on stage with his band.
