Catherine Alexander leads a weekend-long workshop looking at Complicite’s unique approach to making theatre from a huge range of - often unlikely -source material. Taking Jun’ichiro Tanizaki’s The Tale of Shun-kin as a starting point, the workshop will examine the levels of narrative within a text, and how these levels can be differently employed to create stories for the stage.
Working as the Company does, the workshop will be largely movement and practice-based, taking in the games and exercises Complicite uses in the rehearsal room.

Catherine Alexander has worked with Complicite for more than 15 years. Collaborator: Shun-kin; Associate Director: A Disappearing Number; Associate Director: The Elephant Vanishes; Collaborator: The Chairs; Assistant Director: The Caucasian Chalk Circle; Researcher: Out of a house walked a man…

Ages 18+. Suitable for theatre makers of all kinds.
