The Japanese House: Young Barbican Private View

30 May 2017
Art Gallery

Discover how the spaces we build and inhabit affect and reflect the ways we live our lives.

Join other Young Barbican members in our second private view and see how design can mediate between inside and out as you explore two full-size houses rebuilt inside the gallery.

The evening includes an introductory tasting of different kinds of Japanese tea in the lush interior of the Barbican conservatory and a drop in tiny tea house workshop where you can build a 3D model inspired by the exhibition.

Find a different approach to homes and housing in the first major UK exhibition to focus on Japanese domestic architecture from the end of the Second World War to now.

Remember to bring your proof of age ID.

The serving and consumption of alcohol is restricted to members over the age of 18. Photographic ID may be requested
