Arts School Lab

2 - 14 July 2012
Barbican Centre

£200 per person, by application only.

Arts School Lab is a two-week experimental art school, influenced by the Bauhaus. The School will create manifestos for a new era – encouraging purposeful creativity that can contribute to social change. Workshops will take place at the Barbican, London, and the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation.

Responding to the radical Bauhaus education model of the past, Arts School Lab asserts what arts professionals want to change today, with the intention of emboldening creative work for the future.

Arts School Lab runs from Mon 2 to Sat 14 Jul.

Arts School Lab focuses on collaboration; it involves working with arts/creative professionals from a range of practices. As ‘Bauhaus’ means different things to different people, it will require an open mind and a willingness to unlearn. Attendance is required everyday and some evenings for the whole two-week programme.

4 days will take place in Dessau (including travel) and 9 days will take place in London. For the visit to Dessau from London your basic accommodation and travel costs will be covered by the Barbican. In London, you will need to make your own accommodation and travel arrangements. All sessions will be in English.

£200 per person
