6.15pm, Freestage, Level G Cosplay Parade – witness eye-popping costumes as a selection of the UK’s top cosplayers parade across all three levels of the Barbican foyer!
6-11pm, Foyer, Level G Customisation Station – Learn how to customise your clothing, make cosplay accessories, create deco jewellery or even try out gyaru style make-up in our hands-on tutorial area!
7pm, Clubstage, Level -1 Goth Loli Fashion Show – Popular style originating from the Harajuku area of Tokyo - where cute has a twist! All the models will be wearing authentic brands from Japan. Curated by Tania Tanzil.
6-12pm, Foyer, Level -1 Video Game Tournaments – Try out the latest games from Tecmo-Koei (makers of Dynasty Warriors, Dead or Alive and Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage). Take part in the Warriors Orochi 2 game tournament for the chance to win some exclusive Tecmo-Koei merchandise!
6.45-1am, Clubstage, Level -1 Live Music – J-Pop singer Alika Mochida treats us to some of Japan’s favourite pop songs, while Sonic Dragolgo and Hettie Hames give us a taste of Japanese punk!
7.45pm, Freestage, Level G Talk - Cosplay: A Short History – Helen McCarthy gives us an insight into the origins of cosplay, how it relates to traditional Japanese culture and how cosplay and Japanese fashion have spread throughout the world.
Also throughout the evening see the latest anime visuals and street fashion snaps by VJ Namimo across the Barbican Foyers; and wander through our Japanese stalls, selling everything from Cosplay books, costumes to personalised manga portraits! Plus a special intervention by artist David Blandy.
Experience Puri Kura Photo Booth – the latest craze from Japan – and take photos with friends and electronically decorate them to create kawaii masterpieces!
Join photographers Cosplay Portrait and take home your very own Puri Kura prints for free! Plus Rob Dunlop and Pete Lumby, authors of Cosplay Fever, will be snapping away, so be sure to wear your best costume and get some amazing photos with the Barbican’s unique architecture as backdrop!
Junior Cosplay Workshop – Earlier in the day, Kelly Batchelor will be hosting her popular workshop for under-16’s as part of the Come And Play schedule. Find out more about cosplay, and have a go at making your costumes and accessories!
