Jeremy Lubbock – A Life in Music

Guildhall Studio Orchestra rehearse

Guildhall School welcomes Jeremy Lubbock – one of the greatest arrangers in jazz and popular music – to a celebration of his work, which spans Hollywood scores and chart-topping collaborations.

Born in London, Lubbock’s skill as a composer and arranger soon took him to Los Angeles, where he has enjoyed a career working with producers from David Foster to Quincy Jones.

For this retrospective of music by the three-time Grammy Award winner, Guildhall School welcomes his younger brother John Lubbock to conduct Guildhall Studio Orchestra in a programme including music from Jeremy’s album Awakenings, originally recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra, and well-known songs arranged by him for the likes of Barbra Streisand, Ray Charles and Al Jarreau.

Special guests will include celebrated jazz singers Liane CarrollJoe Stilgoe and Tommy Blaize, lead singer on BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing, and the extraordinary pianist Derek Paravicini who performs Moods for piano and strings, the work Jeremy wrote especially for him.
