About the facilitators
Wayward Plants is an initiative founded 20 years ago by Wayward, an award-winning design and placemaking practice best known as pioneers in “meanwhile spaces,” transforming vacant urban land and interim-use sites into design-led, culturally activated green spaces. Wayward Plants’ work with the Barbican began in 2009 with its first London-based Wayward Plant Adoption Event at the exhibition Radical Nature: Art & Architecture for a Changing Planet 1969–2009.
Earth Tenders is a black-led nature connection and community gardening project based in South London. We are responding to the collective call for BPOC-led and affirming spaces within earth practices. At the growing site we offer free or offer workshops and training in food growing, medicine making, nature walks, crafts and wellbeing practices
Lydia Boehm is an artist and educator from California. She has an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art and a Post Graduate degree in Education from Goldsmith’s University. Her primary form of working is in oil paint and charcoal drawing. Observation is central to her practice; she uses flowers as a source material to explore the relationship between colour and organic form.
