The Christophers (15)

Michaela Coel stands in a dark wood room, looking at Ian McKellen, who holds a door open into a shadowed space.

Ian McKellen and Michaela Coel deliver a clever comedy of art and avarice, from Ocean's Eleven director Steven Soderbergh.

Julian Sklar (Ian McKellen) was once a star of London’s 1960s and 70s pop art explosion, but he hasn’t painted in decades and has been broke for years.

Desperate for an inheritance, Sklar’s two estranged children (Jessica Gunning and James Corden) hire Lori (Michaela Coel), an art restorer and former forger, to pose as a prospective assistant in order to access unfinished canvases Julian has buried deep in storage.

Both poignant and sparklingly witty, Soderbergh and screenwriter Ed Solomon (Charlie's Angels, Men in Black) deliver a sharp and remarkable tale of creativity, artistic integrity, legacy and greed.

Steven Soderbergh is known for his previous successes that effortlessly weave between crime, drama and comedy, from Sex, Lies, and Videotape (1989), Erin Brockovich (2000), to the Magic Mike and Ocean's Eleven franchises.
