Maspalomas (18*)

Senior Community Cinema

Two older, gay men walk down the street

After years of living it up in Gran Canaria, 76-year-old Vicente finds himself unexpectedly back in the closet in this life-affirming yet frank examination of elder solidarity and queer desire.

25 years after leaving his wife and family for another man and living in the iconic Spanish gay haven of Maspalomas, Vicente suffers a stroke and wakes up to an unexpected reality: his daughter has placed him in a nursing home.

Without even realising it, he decides not to disclose his sexual orientation and ends up where he started, renouncing everything he worked so hard to achieve. In the aftermath, Vicente must face his shortcomings as a parent and person, and learn the importance of reconciling all parts of who we are with those closest to us.

After their previous successes Marco (2024) and The Endless Trench (2019), directors Aitor Arregi and Jose Mari Goenaga bring this brilliantly life-affirming look at how it's never too late to improve ourselves.
