Resurrection + ScreenTalk with director Bi Gan (via Zoom) (15)

ScreenTalk

A woman standing by a moon sculpture

After Long Day's Journey Into Night, director Bi Gan takes a plunge into a world where humans have forsaken dreams in exchange for immortality, except for one lonesome creature.

We are delighted to welcome director Bi Gan for a ScreenTalk.

In a version of the future where the world no longer dreams, a dreaming monster (Jackson Yee) embarks on a shape-shifting odyssey through illusion, beauty, and terror that takes him across a century of cinema and to the end of time, until a curious woman uncovers his inner worlds.

Traversing across six chapters, Bi Gan's dreamscape is a masterful tribute to film history and its ability to shape us as human beings. From film noir to a delirious vampire love story shot in one of Bi’s signature long takes, the director works with lighting director Wong Chi Ming – who frequently creates the neon filled worlds of Wong Kar Wai – and director of photography Dong Jingsong, who shot Bi Gan's Long Day’s Journey Into Night.
