Tuner (15)

Parent & Baby Screening

A man turning a safe lock

In Academy Award-winning director Daniel Roher’s first narrative feature, Leo Woodall is a gifted piano tuner whose skill strikes an unexpected chord in the world of safecracking.

Niki White (Woodall) is a piano tuner with a devastating hearing condition called hyperacusis, something that causes him acute pain whenever loud noises occur. He works with partner Harry Horowitz, played by no other than Dustin Hoffman.

When Niki discovers that his sensitive hearing make him equally adept at cracking safes, he secretly uses his newfound talent to help Harry out of financial trouble after he is unexpectedly hospitalised. But what begins as a well-meaning favour soon spirals out of control, dragging Niki into a dangerous world far beyond his depth.

In this feature where sound is key, Oscar winner Johnnie Burns (The Zone of Interest) contributes exquisite sound design that goes deep into Niki’s hearing disease.
