Rose of Nevada (15)

Members' Screening

Two men, one of them holding a bag over his shoulder, walk down a Cornish harbour path with blue skies in the background.

Thirty years after it was lost with all hands, a fishing boat reappears in its old harbour. Arthouse Cornish filmmaker Mark Jenkin creates an eerie coastal world lost in time.

Looking for a change in their fortune, young father Nick (George MacKay, 1917) and enigmatic newcomer Liam (Callum Turner, Masters of the Air) join captain Murgey (Francis Magee, Kin), and they head to sea.

But when they return, satisfied with their haul, something is amiss – they’ve slipped back in time, and the villagers greet them as if they are the original crew of the old vessel.

Rose of Nevada is Cornish filmmaker Mark Jenkin’s hotly anticipated and critically acclaimed follow-up to his BAFTA Award-winning Bait (2019) and Enys Men (2022). Unique among British feature filmmakers for the analogue way in which he crafts his films, Jenkin once again serves as writer, director, director of photography, editor, sound designer and score composer.
