Late Fame (15)

A man and a woman laughing

A forgotten postman’s poetry collection finds new admirers in a story about how the mystique of the past filters into the present.

Ed Saxberger (Willem Dafoe), once a rising star of the East Coast literary scene in the late ’70s, retreats into a modest life at the post office after the spotlight moves on.

When a group of young artists rediscovers him, Ed is drawn back into the creative world, and particularly to actress Gloria (Greta Lee).

Adapted by Samy Burch from Arthur Schnitzler’s novella and directed by Kent Jones, the film is a sharp, acidic look at the fine line between artistic ambition and pretentiousness.
