Guildhall Symphony Orchestra & Chorus spectacularly opens the season with Gustav Mahler's radiant Symphony No 4 and Aaron Copland's iconic Fanfare for the Common Man, led by Eivind Aadland.

One of Norway’s most respected conductors, Eivind Aadland, makes his Guildhall School debut in this vibrant new programme.

The evening opens with a new piece for brass and percussion by Diego Jiménez, The Kew Continuum, led by Antoine Veillerette. Eivind Aadland will then take to the podium with Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man and the uplifting, beloved 20th-century choral work Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms. The evening will finish with Gustav Mahler's radiant Symphony No 4, culminating in a luminous vision of heaven sung by a soprano soloist.

Aadland was Chief Conductor and Artistic Leader of the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra for 7 seasons from 2004, during which he conducted the complete Beethoven and Mahler symphony cycles. He is currently the Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.
