You might not expect a Brutalist landmark to be one of London's most haunted places. Yet beneath the Barbican lies nearly two thousand years of history: Roman forts, burial grounds, plague pits, fire, war and ruin. The Barbican isn't simply built on history. It's built over it. 

Join us after dark for an atmospheric walking tour exploring the site's hidden past and the unexplained experiences reported by Barbican staff. Hear stories of mysterious voices, fleeting figures, unexplained noises and strange encounters in spaces that feel very different once the building falls silent.

The tour concludes in the Library Stack Rooms, a space surrounded by decades of stories, sightings and unexplained events...

Can these stories be explained away? That's for you to decide.

  • Ghost Tours take place partially outdoors, and last for approximately 75-90 minutes. We recommend dressing appropriately and being prepared for a range of weather conditions. 

Age guidance: 12+ (includes themes of death, plague and the supernatural).

Booking fees

£1.50 booking fee per online/phone transaction.

No fee when tickets are booked in person.

Booking fees are per transaction and not per ticket. If your booking contains several events the highest booking fee will apply. The booking fee may be reduced on certain events. Members do not pay booking fees.
