Amadou & Mariam: The Blind Couple from Mali + ScreenTalk with Mariam Doumbia & director Ryan Marley (15*)

Doc'n Roll Film Festival 2026

A couple on the sofa

The unlikely love story of two blind Malian musicians, Amadou and Mariam, who have toured all over the world. Now they are returning home to Mali to play a big concert and record one last album.

As the celebrated duo prepare their final album and a homecoming concert in Mali, the film traces a remarkable journey of music, love and resilience.

Rising to international acclaim against the backdrop of political turmoil in their homeland, their joyful music has increasingly become a voice for the displaced and dispossessed.

Returning home for the concert of a lifetime, Amadou & Mariam celebrate music’s extraordinary ability to transcend borders, unite communities and inspire change – a moving story of triumph, hope and spreading joy through sound.

After the screening, director Ryan Marley and Mariam will join us for a ScreenTalk via Zoom.
