Go Fish  + Greetings from Africa + Card Game Social (18)

Chronic Youth Film Festival 2026

Two women kissing

Trendy young lesbian Max is on the search for love in the Chicago queer scene in Rose Troche’s directorial debut. An underseen 90s indie gem, presented in a new 4K restoration.

Max (played by co-writer Guinevere Turner) is a young lesbian who's been unlucky in love… that is, until she meets Ely, a shy post-grad who Max deems too crusty to be worth a shot. How will this unlikely pair ever make it work?

Go Fish is a laidback snapshot into romantic life in the lesbian community of 90s Chicago. Offering a rare moment of unfiltered cinematic lesbian representation, Go Fish proves the power and joy of self-documentation in film.

Alongside Go Fish will be a screening of Cheryl Dunye’s short Greetings from Africa (1995), a funny, honest and reflexive exploration of lesbian dating in the 1990s.

Following the screening, Chronic Youth will be hosting a ‘Go Fish’ card game social in the LG Foyer. This event is free and open to all.

Content Warnings: Some use of discriminatory/homophobic language, depictions of nudity.
