Audio Described Architectural Tour

with Marcus Dickey Horley

A woman walks through planted areas on the Barbican Highwalks

An Audio Described tour exclusively for Blind and Partially Sighted visitors, led by Marcus Dickey Horley.

Did you know the Barbican’s theatre and concert hall extend deeper underground than the nearest Tube line? Or that early plans for the Centre once included a pyramid? Discover these and many more stories as you explore this remarkable Grade II listed estate.

From Roman ramparts to the aftermath of war and the bold modernist vision that reshaped the area, this 90-minute guided tour offers new perspectives on the Barbican’s architectural history. Through detailed audio description, tactile experiences, and immersive soundscapes, you’ll encounter the building’s textures, forms, and atmosphere in an accessible and engaging way.
