Snow White and Seven Dwarfs + Introduction (U)

Animation in Love

Snow White sits surrounded my woodland animals

Where it all started. See the beloved fairy-tale romance that truly broke new ground in the world of animation and kickstarted Disney’s Golden Age.

Since its release in 1937, Snow White and Seven Dwarfs has enchanted generations of viewers of all ages around the world. By no means a safe bet, this expensive gamble was dubbed 'Walt's Folly' before its blockbuster success set the tone and standard for spectacular, big-screen animation.

For this first feature-length Disney Classic, the studio turned to the tales of the Brothers Grimm for inspiration. In adaptation, they transformed the story of a young princess fleeing from her evil stepmother and taking refuge in the forest into a lavish, romantic fairy-tale packed with the charismatic characters, singalong showtunes and awe-inspiring animation wizardry that would become Disney's trademark.

We are pleased to be joined by Dr. Sam Summers for an introduction speaking to the historical significance of this film.
