Little Amélie or the Character of Rain [DUBBED] (PG*)

Preview Screening

A toddler facing a sunny forest

This brand-new ravishing animation is a unique and touching toddler's-eye view of a changing world in post-Second World War Japan.

Amélie, a young Belgian girl living in Japan, awakes from a period of stasis to begin an intricate journey of self-discovery alongside her family and her beloved nanny, Nishio-san.

Set in 1969, the shadow of the Second World War hovers in the characters’ backstories and Amélie must learn about loss and death, as well as the joys of springtime, learning her name in Japanese, cooking with Nishio-san and the wonder that is Belgian chocolate!

Based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Amélie Nothomb and directed by members of the animation team behind Calamity and Long Way North, this unusual and beautiful story is a delightful and complex character study that will charm audiences young and old.
