BBC Singers/Jeannin: 21st-century Choral Classics

Joby Talbot and Joanna Marsh

Sofi Jeannin conducting in front of a dark background, with shapes of BBC branding around the image

Contemplate the endurance and joy of a historic pilgrimage route and experience a brand-new collaboration between composer Joanna Marsh and music producer, engineer and song-writer Glen Scott.

Nearly four years in the making, Joby Talbot’s Path of Miracles is fast becoming a twenty-first century choral classic. Inspired by the indelible impression left on the composer by the sights of the Camino de Santiago in northern Spain, the work is a choral dramatization of the famous pilgrimage route, setting poetry and religious texts in seven languages.

The BBC Singers and Chief Conductor Sofi Jeannin invite you to experience the world premiere of a collaboration between composer Joanna Marsh, music producer, engineer and song-writer Glen Scott and lyricist Fiona Lindsay. Scored for choir with live electronic manipulation, SEEN reveals and reinterprets the lost female voices within classical drama.

The performance ends at approximately 9.30pm, with a 20-minute interval.
